Fugu is the Japanese word for Pufferfish and the dish prepared from it. In Japan, Fugu can only be prepared by a qualified Chef due to the poisonous toxin that accumulates within the fish's organs. The toxin, lethal in small amounts to humans, comes from bacteria eaten as part of the Fugu's food chain.
